Happy Earth Day

Greetings Interweb,
Today is April 22nd which means Earth Day!
I spent a long time thinking today about what Earth Day is, what it isn’t, and what it could be.
What Earth Day IS:
- It’s day where people maybe think a little bit more about their surroundings. In a local, community, and global sense.
- It’s a day where, though reminded several times on the radio, internet, and TV, lots of people probably don’t even realize it’s earth day.
- It’s a day where children in school yards plant flowers and trees but forget to do it again the year after
- It’s a day where some bike to work, but other still drive, make excessive copies, and litter
What Earth Day ISN’T
- It isn’t a day to be wasteful
- It isn’t a day to be cynical
- It isn’t a political statement
- It isn’t a day to leave on the lights or run the air conditioning all day
What Earth Day Could Be:
- It Could be a day where people appreciate the world they live in
- It Could be a day where you clean up your neighborhoold
- It Could be a day to bike to work (and get those legs in shape)
- It Could be a day to not politicize global warming and simply do something nice for the world
- It Could be a day to spend with your family and do something good
- It Could be a day to stop and smell the roses (literally and figuratively)
Ok, for my last bit of preaching, I implore you go to this website http://green.yahoo.com/ and make it your homepage. Even if you only read 1/2 of one article a day, you’ll become more knowledgeable about the environment and start to become more conscious of your consumption. At least that’s what happened to me.
